Day 9 Relaxing Day

Sunday, 13th November 2022

Today i didn’t do anything. Because after long day yesterday, all of us were tired and decided to stay at the dormitory. So today me and Atom just cleaned our room and we washed our clothes. I got a culture shock that here we got a washing machine in our dormitory. In Indonesia, we’re too poor to have that 😉

And in the evening, all of us were practiced for our last performance but here i got my first experience! I got stung by bee. And i needed to go back to my room early so i didn’t finish my practice.

Day 8 Happy Dreamworld Day

Saturday, 12th November 2022

Today was our first trip in Thailand. TRU invited us to go to the Dreamworld (it fell like Dufan in Jakarta). But before we went to the Dream World, we went to the National Science Museum (and this museum was the new one). We would go there with the students and the buddies too. The buddies and the students used the school bus, but all of us were go by van. So the van picked us up at 6.30 am. Then we went to Sathit school first and we started our trip from Sathit School.

Our first destination was National Science Museum. This museum was the new one than other museum. In this museum, we got a chance to take a photo and the view was very amazing.

Here we took a photo just for us, because we were waiting for the bus of students and another ajarn. And after few moments, we were back to the lobby of the museum. Then we entered the museum but here, we were divided into few little groups. I walked with Atom, Rania, Hena, and Akbar. First thing that we saw was a big skeleton of whale. It has a name but actually i forgot it. Then we saw a t-rex and another dinosaurs. Here, we saw a lot of animals maybe more like a biology museum like the revolution of human, kingdom of animals etc. After maybe 2 hours, we left the museum and we’re on the way to the Dream World.

Ind Dream World, because we’re foreigners, actually we needed to pay more expensive but Ajarn Lookhin tried to talk to them and the result was we just needed to pay only 100 baht. That’s a good deal. First thing we did after bought a ticket, we divided into 2 groups (that’s all i remember). And i walked with Akbar, Atom, Kiat, Rania, and Esti. We went to the Giant House. This was literally the giant house. It shaped like an ordinary house, but inside of it, it has a lot of giant stuff. Huge chair, huge table, and we also had the huge cage and Atom took a photo inside of it. The giant was sleep at that time. That was awesome.

Next destination, we went to the next of the Giant House, the 3d Cinema. Actually we wanted to enter the “Alien” but it’s still close, so we decided to go to the 3d cinema first. Here, they gave us the 3d glasses. We watched the movie maybe at least 15 minutes. It was a story about the alchemist that made a mistakes so he made a total mess to all of the laboratory.

Next from the 3d Cinema, we went to the Aliens. It had a long queue and here we talked to a beautiful woman from Turki and her family. She was pretty and so nice to us and she was a moslem. I think we were on the same boat in Thailand because moslem was minority. After we waited for few minutes, we got this chance to enter the Aliens. Here the building was build differently, it seems like a laboratory made in another space (i mean not from earth). And they told us about the aliens, and it was totally creepy because it was dark, actually the first minutes, they still turned on the lamp, but after the aliens got lost the lamp started to shut and it’s total dark. I just could hear the screaming and voices from the Aliens. My chair started to shake feels like the “Aliens” went through underneath our chair. And we got some water spray or something. Till the condition start to calm down and we directly ran away from that creepy room!

Next destination, Kiat wanted to ride the “Hurricane” so we waited for him and record him while he ride those game. After that, we went to the Haunted Mansion. It was like a “Haunted house” but it just so so. I think it was not scary just a little bit jump scare. Next, we got to the Vikings. It feels like we rid a ship and in the middle of the sea the ship will tossed around the wave. Actually i’ve ever rid this game in Indonesia, and i was so scared with this. But my friends convinced me to do that because of the “Safety” thing and “you must regret this if you go home to Indonesia”. So i decided to stand and try this game. And yep, it has the same feelings when i rid it in Indonesia. The first minute it will be fine, but it slowly got higher and higher and I’m afraid of heights! I just scream over and over. And the after taste was so traumatic. My frend, Esti she was shaking. She couldn’t walk for minutes. So we accompanied her for few minutes and took a rest after those shock.

After vikings, all of us (included the others) decided to eat lunch and pray dhuhur. After lunch, me Atom, Esti and Rania decided to eat different than the others (They wanted to eat KFC but we sicked of it so we tried another snacks to replace the lunch). So instead of grabbed our lunch in KFC we tried another snacks by walk around the Dream World. We tried many foods, and ice too!

After lunch, Akbar told us that they would follow us after his lunch. And we waited for him for maybe at least 15 minutes for him to find us. Then we went to the next destination The Black Hole. It was awesome but still scarry. We rid a roller coaster inside of a palace. It was total dark and we were drove faster and faster, going up and down but we couldn’t see what’s inside. That’s the creepy part.

Then the last destination before we went home was “The Grand Canyon”. This game impressed me a lot, because here we rid a boat contained 8 people. So here we talked to three students from near Bangkok we took a photo together. It happened so fast so maybe we couldn’t meet again after that. In Grand Canyon, they had a track like rafting. And here all of us got wet. Fortunately, we got our change. After that, we decided to go back to the van and went home to our dormitory.

Today was amazing!

Day 7 The Other Observation

Friday, 11th November 2022

Today i had another observation. In Sathit Thepsatri School, every day was a religious day. Every day, the Sathit Thepsatri song would be played, and that was the sign that the students must gather around to do the ceremony. And every morning started at 7.40 a.m, the exchange students needed to come down to follow the ceremony.

Today i followed Ajarn May’s class in Matthayom 4. Ajarn May had a very nice and cheerful students here. They always want to reach me even they couldn’t speak english. Saw them struggling because of language barriers was cute.

Day 6 First Observation

Thursday, 10th November 2022

Today, the van picked us up at 06.40 a.m, we got a little bit late because sometimes it was very early for us to do that (but actually some of us has already feel it when we had internship in Indonesia). After we arrived at school, Ajarn Lookhin took us to the meeting room on the 3rd floor. In this room, we had socialization and met our mentors from Sathit Thepsatri School.

Ajarn Lookhin introduced us to our mentors in Sathit Thepsatri School. Then Ajarn Lookhin explained us about dates, when will we teach the class, when will we have observation in the class, and introduced our mentors to us. My major is Chemistry education, and in this school i got 2 mentors, they were Ajarn Panin (chemistry teacher for Matthayom 6/1, 6/2, and 6/3) and Ajarn May (general science teacher for Matthayom 4/1, 4/2, and 4/3. They would give me some advice to do my final teaching. Ajarn Lookhin also showed us our room. It was in Ajarn Abb’s room. After our socialization, we went to the Ajarn Abb’s room. We took a rest a little bit there. After that we needed to go down stairs to follow the ceremonial session. This session held every morning routine for students in Sathit Thepsatri School. In this session, besides they did the morning pray, here we had session to give announcement and the latest news from anywhere. And in this session Ajarn Lookhin introduced us formally to the students in the front. We were one by one introduced ourselves and our major.

After the ceremony, we went to follow our mentor based on the schedule that we got. Me myself, i followed Ajarn Panin’s class at 6/3. They were taught about the hydrocarbon materials especially about alkanes. But i only observed 1 class only that day. Ajarn Panin want me to follow Ajarn May. And after few minutes i followed the Ajarn May class, i finished the observation little bit too early so Ajarn May asked me to went back to the room. But in the room i found no one inside, so i checked outside, Atom, Akbar, Kiat, and Intan Elyana was join the PE Class with topic dancing. So i joined them and we played with the students in PE Class.

Day 5 Thai Language Class

Wednesday, 9th November 2022

The van picked us up at 07.30 a.m from the dormitory. After that as usual, we grabbed our breakfast at Rattana Building. We made some breakfast at the dormitory and we brought it to the canteen. After that we went to the same class as yesterday. The second Thai Language class was taught about family and some brief introduction in Thai language. In the class, Atom was beside me so when we needed to practice, she would be my partner. Here we got first conversation in Thai language. We learned how to introduce a person or our friend to another person and so on.

After break lunch, we had our third Thai language class. It was Ajarn Dao’ class. In this third class, Ajarn Dao taught us about food and baverages, how to say i want to go somewhere, and public places. And after all of the class, Ajarn Dao gave us a quiz from quizziz. This was so fun! because we needed to compete each other and i came out as the second place! The first place was Yok (Intan Elyana), i got the Second Place and Wasnna (Hena Zahra) as the third place. And at the end of the day we all sang together with Ajarn Dao to sing a Thai song. That was a popular one.

Day 4 Orientation Day

Tuesday, 8th November 2022

Today was awesome! First time i had a Thai language class. And we need to come a little bit late (i mean not as usual) because the van picked us up at 7.30 a.m. And then we had a breakfast in Rattana Building Thepsatri Rajabhat University. And when we first time went there, there’s only one word in my mind. “This is foodcourt was a paradise”. At this place, they had around 15 canteen there.

First lesson was Thai Language class. We needed to go to the 3rd floor of the university building. Here they taught me about greetings and number. Besides that, i learned about how to have a transaction with seller. And on the first day Thai language class for me it was amazing.

After Thai language class they bought us lunch, it was fried rice. After we took a break for lunch and pray, they took us to the another room. Here we had our welcoming party from the Thepsatri Rajabhat University. They welcomed us very well and warm. First we had the speech from the rector of Thepsatri Rajabhat University and so on. Till we come to the welcoming part, when they called us one by one to come to the front and they gave us an orchid necklace (specific and expensive orchid). It was my best moment here cause i fell so proud of my self and made my self realized that i really in Thailand.

Then, one by one we were introduced by Ajarn Lookhin to our mentors. Here i got my Thai name! My Thai name was Baitoey it means Pandan Leaves. It was given by my mentor from university named Ajarn Paew. After introduction session, i come to my mentor. Here i met my mentor and my buddies. I had two buddies, the first one was Amp and the second one was Ray.

After the ceremonial done, we went to the Loy Krathong Festival. In that festival, there was night market which sell a lot of food. Here we tried some snacks originally from Thailand with our buddies till the van picked us up at 20.00 p.m and went back home.

Day 3 Loy Krathong Festival

So today, i went to Sathit Thepsatri School. Before this i believed that Sathit was included in its name as a School in Lop Buri. But actually its meaning was “School” for grade 7 till 12. This school was huge, and it has 6 floors with 3 buildings. It has a wide basketball field. And it is located near the Thepsatri Rajabhat University. Our first day and our first impression was very great and amazing.

Our first day here, while we’re here, we were borrowed a room by Ajarn Abb, she was a general science teacher. Actually, she was my friend’s mentor. And in our first day, we’re making the loy krathong. It was like a floating things made from banana stem and we’re closed it with banana leaves and also we added some flowers and candles on it. And it could be floated on the water. This was my first time made the Loy Krathong. It’s a little bit hard but i fell so excited.

Loy Krathong festival was a festival to commemorate about gratitude for water. Because water has a lot of benefits for human. To show the gratitude, they floated the “Loy Krathong” on the water. So after we made the Loy Krathong, we went to the Sakew (like a river) and while we were walking to the Sakew there were a parade, an elephant parade too. It’s little bit crowded but we could reach the Sakew not really hard. After we arrived in Sakew, we floated our handmade Loy Krathong on the water.

And after that, we enjoyed the Loy Krathong Festival at night with our buddies and tried some foods at night market.

Day 2 Relaxing Day and Adaptation

This is the second day of me going Thailand. Here i still can’t believe that i go to Thailand. Here i got the cozy room with two twin bed, two desks, i got one living room, and two wardrobes. Even when i checked the bathroom, it was very clean. The bathroom was using the shower and we had one wastafel and one sink. We also had balcony, one air conditioner and one large window. I felt so comfortable with my room. One room filled with 2 people and my roommate was Atom.

In Thailand, there were so many dogs. They guard the their owner’s house. Even they had a lot of wild dogs here. In the morning, maybe around 9 a.m, me and friends went to the minimarket named 7 eleven. This was one of my buddies recommendation for halal food so we tried to go there by ourselves.

Based on google maps guidance, we tried to go to 7 eleven by ourselves. But we’re blind of directions, we were lost. Because we’re supposed to pass the blue gate but that time, the blue gate was closed so we needed to turn around and tried the other way. And on the way to the other way, we got barked by dogs, maybe around 4 dogs they barked at us and followed us. So we need to turn around and looked for the other way.

So that’s the drama before we’re going to 7 eleven. We bought rice, coconut oil, and others to cook some food at dorm. Or we bought some instant noodles and tried the Thai instant noodle.

Day 1 First Arrival in Thailand

Today is 5th November 2022. Me and my friends, we’re 12 people went to the Airport by Train. It started to rain and our trip was at 20.00 p.m. We went by train from Solo Balapan train station to Gambir Station in Jakarta. It’s little bit boring because we didn’t have anything to do in train. Before we got in the train, we accompanied by our lecturer named Ms. Wendah. We took a picture together and started to get in the train. Inside the train we just slept and nothing to do. After a long time, we arrived at the Gambir train station at around 3.10 a.m. We grabbed some food for breakfast. Here i saw national monument (monas) in Jakarta and that’s an excited moment for me because i really want to go there but i had no chances but i just saw the live picture of Monas. After we arrived at Gambir Train Station we went to the Soekarno Hatta Airport by Damri Bus. But here i got unexpected experience because we got the wrong terminal. In my ticket, it said in Terminal 1 but actually we had to go in terminal 3. But i was also feel grateful because i had experience to use the skytrain. So all of us took the skytrain on B track to go to Terminal 3. And after that we just went straight to the airplane and took off to Bangkok!

The took off sensation was unforgottable memories for me who was afraid of heights. Even i needed to grab my friend’s hand so tight and closed my eyes. Even i was crying at the moment and all my friends laughed at me. But after arrival at Bangkok, i fell so happy because my buddies and staff just welcome us so warmly. We took a photo together.

After we arrived Thailand, they took us to big C to grab some food for dinner. Here, me and my friends tried Tom Yum, which this food originally from Thailand. That’s not what expected because personally i think it’s sour enough. We went to the foodcourt at big C, and they paid for our dinner. And after that they took us at counter to buy sim card for the internet. And then we’re going back to the dorm.

A. Latar Belakang

Dalam kondisi kehidupan di zaman sekarang, banyak hal hal yang berubah. Oleh karena itu, kita sebagai mahasiswa juga harus mempersiapkan diri untuk bisa bersaing ke depannya. Dalam mempersiapkan diri ini, kita juga membutuhkan pengalaman yang mumpuni untuk mengasah diri kita sendiri. Selain itu, cara belajar dan motivasi belajar juga berperan serta untuk mengembangkan diri lebih lanjut.

“Cara belajar merupakan masalah yang perlu mendapat perhatian dalam proses belajar siswa. Banyak siswa yang belajar dengan giat tetapi hasilnya tidak sesuai dengan yang diharapkan, karena disamping kesanggupan untuk belajar, diperlukan cara yang efisien. Cara belajar yang efisien inilah yang harus dikenal, dipahami dan dikembangkan olehsiswa agar belajarnya dapat berhasil. Motivasi (baik intrinsik maupun ekstrinsik) merupakan salah satu hal yang sangat penting dalam proses belajar. Merupakan syarat mutlak dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Dengan adanya kemampuan dan pemahaman yang cukup, serta adanya motivasi, seorang siswa akan berprestasi baik. B. Tujuan Artikel Ilmiah

Tujuan dari ditulisnya artikel ini adalah untuk menginspirasi mahasiswa mahasiswa yang masih memiliki sifat malas untuk terus mengasah diri. Tanggung jawab mahasiswa bukan hanya sekedar untuk meneruskan negara Indonesia saja, tetapi juga untuk mengembangkannya menjadi lebih baik lagi. Dalam mengasah diri, mahasiswa juga dapat melakukan kegiatan yang bermanfaat dan menyenangkan. Apabila kita dapat menjalaninya dengan senang, maka kita tidak akan lelah dalam mengerjakan suatu kegiatan itu.

C. Pembahasan

Di zaman sekarang, banyak mahasiswa yang menghabiskan liburannya hanya untuk bermalas malasan di kasur atau tetap mengurung diri di kamar kosan dan lain lain hal yang seperti itu. Rasanya, kita sebagai mahasiswa juga perlu untuk mengasah diri dalam menghadapi perubahan yang akan terjadi di masa depan. Dimana kita semua akan bersaing dan memajukan negara kita sendiri yaitu Indonesia. Dalam rangka mengasah diri tersebut, kita dapat mencontoh mahasiswa UNS Muhammad Ihza Ukasyah dari Program Studi Ilmu Hukum Fakultas Hukum Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Pada masa masa liburan ini, Uka lebih suka memanfaatkan liburannya untuk hal hal yang bermanfaat. Ia bahkan merencanakan kegiatan kegiatan yang akan ia habiskan semasa liburannya dimulai dari magang di sebuah Perseroan Terbatas yaitu PT. Adhi Karya hingga menghabiskan akhir liburannya di Kampung Inggris. Uka sudah bisa menggunakan waktu liburannya secara bijak yaitu untuk mengasah dirinya agar bisa lebih berpengalaman ketika ia lulus dari Universitas Sebelas Maret ini. “Relevansi kuliahku sama di sini banyak banget. Kebetulan kemarin aku baru dapat mata kuliah (matkul) Peradilan Niaga. Nah, kemarin aku diminta untuk bikin timeline Penundaan Kewajiban Pembayaran Utang (PKPU), tentang kepailitan juga. Terus kemarin dapat matkul Pendidikan dan Latihan Kemahiran Hukum (PLKH) untuk belajar bikin surat kuasa. Ada lagi matkul Hukum Kontrak sama Alternatif Penyelesaian Sengketa (APS) yang beneran aku terapin di sini,” ujar Uka.

Dari sini kemudian para mahasiswa dapat memanfaatkan liburannya secara bijak seperti Muhammad Ihza Ukasyah tersebut. Untuk mendukung hal ini, Universitas Sebelas Maret juga sudah menyiapkan program program yang mendukung untuk para mahasiswanya yang ingin seperti Muhammad Ihza Ukasyah tersebut. Baru baru ini Universitas Sebelas Maret sudah menandatangani kontrak kerja sama dengan beberapa perseroan terbatas seperti PT. Burma dan PT. King Manufacture. “Prof. Sajidan menambahkan, komitmen kerjasama antar lembaga ini sebagai wujud strategis dalam menciptakan hubungan yang harmonis antara dunia pendidikan dan dunia industri. “Untuk itu penandatanganan MoU ini direncanakan akan dilakukan dalam 2 Minggu mendatang,” ujar Prof. Sajidan. Tentu saja menghabiskan waktu liburan dengan mengikuti kelas ini akan sangat bermanfaat daripada hanya bermalas malasan di rumah atau di kos. Didalam kelas ini, para mahasiswa diberi bekal bagaimana cara mengakses jurnal yang betul dan dapat menghasilkan informasi yang dipublikasi secara benar. Dengan kita mampu mengasah diri kita sendiri, hal ini kemudian akan memiliki dampak yang positif. Bukan hanya berdampak pada diri kita sendiri saja, tetapi juga instansi yang sedang kita masuki. Sebagai contoh, Universitas Sebelas Maret kemarin berhasil menyabet juara 1 di Ajang Nasional Chemistry Expo and Festival. Dimana diwakili oleh tiga mahasiswa UNS, yaitu Muhammad Adam Firdausi dari Program Studi D3 Farmasi 2018, Thufeil Noor Muhammad dari Prodi D3 Teknik Informatika 2018, dan Putri Indah Nurani dari Prodi D3 Farmasi 2019. Mereka mampu menciptakan salep penyembuh luka dari limbah tulang ikan bandeng yang dibimbing oleh Dian Eka Ermawati, M. Sc., Apt. Bukan hanya sebagai mahasiswa saja yang dituntut untuk terus mengasah diri dan berkarya, ternyata Rektor Universitas Sebelas Maret Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M. Hum. meminta untuk para guru besar yang baru baru ini telah menyelesaikan studinya agar tidak lelah dalam berkarya. Seperti yang kita tahu, Universitas Sebelas Maret baru baru ini telah kedatangan beberapa guru besar. D. Kesimpulan

Jadi, mengasah diri itu penting untuk dilakukan mengingat kita sebagai mahasiswa agar dapat bersaing dalam Revolusi Industri 4.0 yang sedang marak dibicarakan saat ini. Dalam mengasah diri itu, kita dapat melakukan kegiatan yang bermanfaat namun juga menyenangkan seperti magang, melakukan penelitian dan lain lain. Selain kita para mahasiswa, para sesepuh seperti guru besar juga diminta untuk tetap berkarya tanpa lelah.
